By Naoko Makita at the Hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper
As visiting artists/residence program participants at the hall of Awa Japanese Handmade Paper, Ms. Elspeth Lamb and Charmian Pllok from Scotland has stayed with us for 1 month to work on their art. Elspeth has been working on an artists book with a concept of extinct animals and she worked on making papers with watermarks of the animals. Ms. Charmian Pllok does paper making at her studio in Scotland and she worked on for her personal exhibition, which she plans to open soon at her country. We had a small lecture to introduce them, their art works and its concepts during their stay.
For whole time, I was just regretting that I should have studied English more, but we did somehow communicate each other with little bit of English, Japanese and lots of gesture!
