The name Mingei came from Mingei Undo (literally means Folk craft movement), which was occurred in early Showa period (approximately in 1920’s). The word Mingei is an abbreviation of folkish craft art in Japanese, and the movement was taken place as an enlightenment of ‘reinstatement of handwork’ and ‘naturalize a beauty in everyday life’.
Awagami’s Mingeishi comes with total of 58 colors and each of them are dyed in single solid color.
It can be used for various purposes, such as making collage, box making, wrapping and other crafts.
